Went for the launch of the Chingay Fiesta at Tampines. This Chingay Fiesta is a 2-weeks event, filled with different kinds of performances. Last Sunday was the launch and there were special appearances by some mediacorp artistes - Vincent Ng, Fiona Xie, Kym Ng, Quan Yifeng and the hosts, Michelle Chong and Guo Liang. Qi Yuwu was supposed to attend this event as well, but due to changes in filming schedules, he didn't turn up. Obviously, i went there to support Vincent... haha..
His official fanclub, Vincent Connection, was there as well... and some of those kids were really crazy! I was very glad that he had quite a lot of supporters but i think Vincent might have felt embarrassed by the way they were behaving. They screamed and shouted like nobody's business. I mean, i might have done that too at a 5566 event... but the feeling is different when you are the only ones screaming. Can you imagine a group of supporters (around 10 of them) amidst a few hundred residents (the very young kids, middle aged aunties and uncles) ?? Even as a Vincent fan myself, i felt so embarrassed for them. Not to say Vincent, who is such a shy and reserved person. Upon hearing the cheers and screams for Vincent, Guo Liang kept making fun of Vincent, calling him 'The most popular artiste in the North-east zone'.
Other than these kids, there were a few aunties and uncles who were equally over-enthusiastic. There were some games being played before the G.O.H arrived. 5 persons went up to participate and there was this auntie who i can't stand! She asked the hosts to guess her age and when they guessed 35 (when she obviously looked like 50), she said she felt so happy they think she looks young. My gosh! She even dragged Guo Liang and Michelle Chong to take a photo with her on stage when the G.O.H wasabout to arrive!
Anyway, i was feeling quite pissed already... until Vincent came on stage! He showed a short display of wushu using poles (i think they are called poles... haha) and played a few games with the audience. At one point in time, he and Kym Ng came down stage to choose people to be in their team... he was so near then! Haha... managed to snap some photos..
Other than those over-enthusiastic fans, the night was rather entertaining with performances from the overseas troupes that performed at Chingay and some songs from the Mediacorp artistes. Even Quan Yifeng sang a song individually! Oh yah, we even had goodie bags! Inside was this picnic mat, which i concluded would be useful when i go for 5566 events in future! hee hee... =p ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
