I'm slogging like a mad cow... rushed home from work to bathe and then went to teach tuition.. my student is having exams these 3 days so had to give her extra lessons...
Speaking of work... i dont really know what to comment on.. been away from office for 6 hours today to conduct invigilation for exams - 3 hours in the morning, then lunch, then another 3 hours of invigilation... my supervisor was feeling unwell so she take the day off, leaving me to administer the afternoon paper all by myself... i can only say i'm such a dumbo, blur sotong, king kong, whatever u call it... after lunch, i went to office, took the exam scripts and proceeded to the training room to open the door so that those taking the exams can come in and settle down. I saw a couple of them waiting outside the room and i guess i panicked as i made them waited outside for quite some time... so i hurrily swiped the card across to open the door.. but the door didnt bulge and there was this guy saying ' maybe u did it too fast so it cant read...' so i tried again, slightly slower this time round and the same thing happened... and he went ' hmm thats too slow now...' Tried a few more times and then discovered that i swiped the card the other way round... argh.. i felt so paiseh, kena suaned by them...
Thats not the end of my stupidity yet...
Please be mentally prepared as u are going to read something real dumb...
As everyone settled down in the room, i started to distribute the answer sheets.. there were 3 different papers so i was a bit slow in distributing.. had to go down seat by seat to ask for their names, searched for their answer sheets and give it to them...
After all the answer sheets were given out, i started giving instructions.... "Please check that your name is correctly printed... Ensure that you sign the statement of understanding... If you want your question booklet back, please write your name and dept on it... The duration of the paper is 3 hours and if there are no questions, you may begin now..."
Notice anything amiss? Well... i didnt... until someone said " No question paper, how to do?" Then i realised i have not even distributed the question booklet and i expected then to start attempting the paper!! How silly can i get? I guess its the 1st time i am administering the exam without my supervisor around... a bit nervous? Better dont let her know about this... heh
After the afternoon paper ended at 4pm, i merely did some data entry by updating the training records and did some training programs evaluation summary required urgently by the senior TD manager... then an employee came up to the senior manager and enqueried about her exams... she registered for it but apparently she cant make it for the exams as there would be visits from HQ on that day and she was required to do some presentation to the visitors... she was wondering if she had to pay for it (company pays for the exams but if employees dont turn up for invalid reasons, they have to bear the cost) ... so the senior manager used this example and gave me some pointers on how to handle and make decisions on such issues... so dont ever think that HR is merely administrative and mudane kind of job... there is more to it!
