1st day of internship at AIA... frankly i felt rather pro in my super formal attire.. haha! But my legs were begging for life at the end of the day... poor toes squeezed into that pair of pointed heels...

Met SL outside Raffles Place Exit F at 8.45am and proceeded into AIA Tower... had to sign in at the lobby as we didnt have any employee's pass and there was a security check on our bags. Tight security eh? Took the lift to the 20th level, HR dept to report. Saw this yummy (Janice taught me this word.. haa!) guy in the lift... he got out at the 16th floor and i suspect he is some insurance agent or some manager lah, cos of his attire. As we got to the HR dept, saw the other interns from NTU as well... there were so many of us, about 15!! No wonder can afford to pay us more lah... $25 per day, worse than a temp staff! I used to get $6.50 per hour while working part-time...

Next, one of the recruitment executive brought us down to the training room on the 8th level to do some administrative stuff, like filling in the giro authorization form for our pay and blah blah blah... after that, had a short introduction talk on the company and we proceeded to our various depts. The HR dept at AIA is rather huge, comprises of more than 10 staff.. i thought thats quite a lot of people as most of the HR dept i know of only have 5-6 people. Was introduced to everyone around. SL is under com & ben while i am under Training and Development (TD) so we were kind of separated though still in the same office space. Met the TD senior manager and she briefed me on my workscope. But my immediate supervisor, the TD manager was not around, so i was left on my own to read some documents and business magazines. Did that for around 2 hours (getting bored...) then the senior manager came over and took me and SL out for lunch with other colleagues from the dept.

SL and i rushed back to office while the other colleagues went for coffee (so envious...) cos i had to help administer an exam for the employees at 1pm (Btw, lunch is from 1145 to 1245.. so feel free to date me for lunch appointments!). For the next 3 hours from 1-4pm, i was basically the invigilator for the exam... quite boring, just distribute question booklets, answer sheets and sit there to 'supervise' them. But they are all adults, even older than me, so i trust they wont cheat la... therefore i spent the time reading boring HR magazines again! But tomorrow would be a little more challenging as i had to give the instructions for the exam and do everything on my own without the help of my supervisor...

Now u guys must be thinking that my workscope is quite slack ah... i thought so too... until i was presented with 2 huge stacks of documents after my invigilation... tons of data to be entered into the system... gosh.. shall leave that till next week cos this week is packed with exams.. just like school where the entire period is catered for exams...

Okie i shall blog so much for now... in case i rattle on and on and disclose any confidential information... haha... will blog again and update u guys on my internship!

** Btw, i am looking forward to the zoo, zoo, zoo... mel, u plan and organise this time round and must make it a success yeah! Hope can see more 'new' faces from 6G, like Qicai and many others! But arrange it on a weekend la... cos cant possibly ask me to take leave to go to the zoo during my attachment period rite?! No leave is allowed during this period... hee...
