I am really, really living in a small, tiny, minute piece of land...
Here in this entry, i am going to rabble about how small Singapore is again... haha!! And i wanna say, i do believe in fate...
Yesterday i saw one of my school mates, Weigen at Raffles Place when i was on my way to work. He is a 'not very tall' guy with very good dress sense though... hee... I was in a hurry so didnt go forward to call him. Anyway, we are not very close friends (shall explain our relationship later on...) and we have never talked to each other face-to-face before!!
You may say, its not surprising to bump into him cos so many NTU students are on attachment around Raffles Place... true, i agree.... but i bumped into him again when i went home! While waiting to alight from the bus, i thought i saw someone familiar at the bus stop... but wasnt very sure... after going to the optician to get my contact lenses, i had to walk past the bus stop to walk back home. And that familiar person was indeed Weigen! Fancy seeing him twice in the same day at 2 different places! Very, very surprised to see him as i knew where he doesnt stay at Bishan... he saw me too and we chatted.. for the 1st time! I was asking why he was here... haha.. he came to get a new pair of glasses, from my optician too... haha.. cos the price is real cheap...
Back to how we got to know each other.. this is another point to further strengthen my stand on how small Singapore is... i actually got to know him from ICQ when i was in either sec 4 or JC1, and at that time, he was either in JC2 or NS. Anyway, we often chat on ICQ until he went to serve the country and we didnt chat for a year or so... then he started coming online again when he went to University... so we were updating each other about ourselves... then i found out he was studying in NTU, business, group A... exactly like me! Very coincidental right?
Then one day, in my accounting tutorial class, i heard the tutor call ' Weigen' ... and this name rings a bell to me... its the same name as my ICQ friend... actually a lot of people have the same name but i thought Weigen is less common so i asked him online which accounting tutorial group is he in... oh my gosh! HE is the very same person - my ICQ friend who is also my tutorial clsmate! Talk about how small the world, or rather, Singapore is! After knowing our identities and being in the same class for one semester, we still continued to chat on ICQ but never face-to-face in class... even now we are not in the same class, we dont say hi when we see each other in school... i really wonder why... but i guess we would feel awkward lah.. haha...
And now that i saw him twice yesterday, i saw him again after work today! Hahah...
Work has been quite a challenge for me this week... lots of things to do... did lots of photocopying today... no choice, due to a training programme ' Targetted Selection' for these 3 days so had to prepare training materials for the participants... sorted exam papers and brought them to the mailing room so that the candidates who took the exams last week could collect back their question booklets... tomorrow and friday will be the toughest, i guess... my supervisor is on leave and there is a training program going on... that leaves me alone to handle all possible problems that might pop out...
But i am very glad working at AIA... i am supposed to knock off at 5.30pm but for the whole 1 & a half weeks, i never step out of office on the dot at 5.30pm... i leave office as late as 6.15pm most of the days.. today i was asked to reach office at 8.15am when i am supposed to start work at 8.45am but i didnt complain... really enjoy my job...
although my job is more administrative and more of a logistics and supportive role, i am really happy as i get to interact with people around the organisation more than my other friend who is attached to the comp and ben dept.
The people who sat for the exams last week (although from diff depts) would smile at me and say hi when they see me around office... one of them even chatted with me when we met in the lift after lunch... some other employees who come up to HR will also speak to me and ask if i am new in the company... even got to assist the trainer from Home Office (HK) for today's training program... they are real friendly people... seriously considering working at AIA after i graduate, provided they wanna hire me...
Okie, thats enough for today! A bit long-winded... cos haven been online for 2 days liao... so got a lot to say... hee ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
