A few more beautiful days!
Yesterday was another great day for me... it was day 2 of Orientation for the new staff... we met at Tower in the morning and took the mailroom van to AIA Changi for on-site visit cum presentation by the Agency and Accident & Health departments. Pretty interesting and really an eye-opener... didnt know that the agents actually have to 'earn' their office furniture by meeting a certain FYP (first year premium)... tough job sia! After that, we visited the Call Centre which is quite amazing.. 50 odd customer service representatives and telemarketeers were housed there and they have a beautiful and cosy pantry!
Went back to Tower and we all had lunch together at the Jap restaurant near our office. It was a fantastic meal and i could really sense some kind of bond among the staff. They talked about anything under the sun - one of them has a husband who works as a cameraman at Mediacorp, so naturally we gossiped about artistes... one of them survived the tsunami as she was actually at Phuket when the disaster struck... all sorts of things we discussed... really wonderful bunch of new colleagues!
The challenge came after lunch... we went back to the training room for our team building exercise. Well, i was the facilitator... quite nervous initially but thought it was a good 1st try.. hee.. the teams had to develop a device/ equipment surrounding an uncooked egg so that when released from 6 feet, the egg will not break or even crack. They were given limited resources such as 2 styrofoam cups, some straws, ice-cream sticks, masking tape and newspapers to work on... i must say, they were all very serious in doing it and really came up with brilliant ideas!
Felt a little empty now that the 2 days are gone... but nevertheless, the next NEOP is coming in 2 weeks time... hope i'll be involved again and get to know another great bunch of people. Hmm.. guess i can always drop an email or bump into any of those new friends around, esp if they are in Tower. But some of them are from other locations like Changi and Call Center, so wont get to see them, can only email them... Got a surprise from one of them today actually... he dropped me an email and we kind of chatted via our internal email on MS Outlook... haha... felt a bit guilty lah, cos never concentrate on my work... hee..
Think i'm making you people bored with my gushings over my job... but well, i really love it! Maybe training is indeed my cup of tea... strongly considering going into the training aspect of HR after i graduate... AIA, wait for me!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
