Went for a short trip to Malacca last weekend, organized by my mum's friend... 7 of us went in all - my parents, bro, 2 aunts, xiaomin & myself...

The day started early for us... xiaomin stayed over at my place and we chatted till 2am before sleeping and next day, had to wake up at 5am to catch the tour bus at AMK at 6am... as expected, there were a lot of aunties & uncles on the trip... they are quite nice people la, but just a little grumpy and kiasu at times...

1st stop was breakfast, somewhere in Johor... had cheap dim sum but not as tasty as in spore... that place had lots of stray dogs around... scared the wits out of me!!

Long drive to Malacca after that... so what is a better way to spend time than listening t
o music and taking pictures?

Min & I on the bus

Stopped by a shop selling local products... followed by a visit to the Red House... nice place with nice scenery around...

Outside Red House

Another building behind Red House (if remembered correctly)

Proceeded for lunch after visit at Red House, at a Nonya restaurant... ooh i like! Yummy food and i especially love the chendol dessert! I feel like drooling while typing this now... its really tasty! After lunch, we walked to this nearby shopping mall ad were allowed 1.5 hours free time to look around... and i bought a pair of heels! I am an implusive shopper!

My purchase - half the ringgits at hand gone!~

It was already mid-afternoon after the shopping trip.. we were then driven to this place where a temple was at.. those interested to go pray went ahead and the rest went to shop around at the stalls along the streets... when all was gathered back on the bus, we proceeded to check in at the resort... at first, i was disppointed cos it wasn't a hotel... but the resort was cool so the money paid was still worth it!

Rivera Bay Resort

We were allowed time to rest and shower before meeting for dinner... so we explored around the resort and it is beautiful... but i think more maintainence can be done to improve the place...

Some facilities within the resort compound

I guess everyone was hungry cos all was punctual at the lobby when meeting for dinner... tour guide brought us to this place called Newton to eat... similar to our ever familiar chomp chomp... lots of food...
7 of us bought like 12 dishes to share... so satisfying! The last stop for the day was shopping at the night market... selling handicrafts, accessories and some local food... the place was very crowded and it was difficult to stop by and look at everything... saw a lighter and wanted to get for J but he's gonna quit smoking so dropped the idea.. haha...

Day 2 started with a buffet breakfast at the resort cafe... not fantastic as compared to the one i had at Genting, but still acceptable... checked out of the resort after that...

Pretending that i can play the piano~

My bro n I - playing around with specs & shades

The rest of the day was mostly spent travelling on the bus... quite tiring... i just slept and slept whenever there were opportunities...

Went to a temple where the aunties and uncles prayed... the 3 of us young ones stayed on the bus and rot... followed by lunch at a chinese restaurant... a couple was holding their wedding lunch at that restaurant, so it felt weird eating there... haha... as if we were part of their guests!~ This time i was so famished, i forgot about taking photos of the food... we had soup, tou fu, fish, chicken, vegetables... many many more... every meal was a like 8-10 course meal!

Continued our journey, a long long drive... went to visit a dragonfruit (long zhu guo) plantation...

How a dragonfruit tree looks like

After the plantation visit, we proceeded for dinner.... this restaurant was located in some industry area, very ulu pandan... lots of stray dogs around! And the service not as good, food not as nice... the steamed fish we got wasn't even fully cooked!

The trip ended after dinner, as we were driven to the customs... rather crowded but fortunately no traffic jam... and i managed to smuggle 2 strips of bubble gum... haha... guess a little bit is okay...

Overall, the trip was quite fun... got to know a bit more about Malacca and i really appreciate the clean toilets back home! Not that the toilets there are extremely filthy, but home is always better!~
