Before i recap my week, let me tell you guys a disgusting piece of news... don't puke! Here i go...
I got a missed call this afternoon so i called back to find out who was looking for me. This guy answered the phone and there was a lot of confusion.. asked where i was calling from and refused to tell me where he is from. I mean, how am i supposed to answer his question when i don't know where they are calling from!! Am i supposed to say i'm from singapore, ntu, genome or wat..?! Decided that it shouldn't be an important call, so i said it doesn't matter and wanted to hang up. Then the guy said he will help me check out who called and get back to me. He did get back to me and it turned out that his colleague called wrongly, thought my number belonged to some chemical company! Rubbish lor... he apologized for it and asked me if he was interrupting my lunch... diaox... weird! None of his business what..
Here comes the disgusting part... a few hours after the call, i received this sms:
" 嗨你好！我是J******, 那个在中午打错电话给你的男生。 想告诉你，被你甜蜜的声音而感动，在此送你一则有趣的简讯，希望能与淑仪一起学习和成长。"
Gosh.. goosebumps leh! I know my voice is sweet lah... my colleagues say i sound very sweet over the phone... wahahaha... but come on! Crazy fellow... i am disgusted! How can he just take my number and send me an sms?! Idiot... somemore, an sms typed in chinese! Is he from 'you know where'...??
Anyway, its already my 2nd week at work, time really flies! Beginning to adapt to the environment and the people, although i am still quite free... wahaha... but this week is definitely a lot more busier than last week. Can you imagine my colleagues and i lunch-ed in 3 days this week?!
Growing close to one of my colleagues.. we joined on the same day and attended the safety orientation together. Though she's like 30 years old, we get along pretty well... i also address her as 'girl', the way i address my other gal friends! But we were busy with work this week, not much chance to really talk.. she told me to be wary of cunning people around cos there's some office politics going on, so both of us must 'xiang yi wei ming' already... haiz... don't wanna get involved in such politics manz...
Anyway, the receptionist was on MC yesterday and today, so i had to cover her duties. Thursday was madness, the busiest day out of the 2 weeks there! There were so many visitors, including some big-shots which involved red carpet and security sending them up... then there were a loadful of mail that day! Usually the postman will drop them into our mailbox but that day, he dragged a big, big bag up for us! Spent like half an hour sorting the mails with my other colleague and putting them into various departments' pigeon holes. Tell you, can go cross-eyed from searching for the people's names from our telephone directory... but i'm beginning to remember who is from which level, which department already... bit by bit... so hopefully i can 'discard' the telephone list in no time!
Other than handling the stream of visitors, mails, faxes and phonecalls, there were lots of deliveries/couriers this week... called to arrange courier service until sian liao... Also, i had a chance to sit in at a meeting with a representative from a particular hotel. They were trying to sell us some corporate packages... hmm, pretty interesting experience for me! Besides, i think i am already used to making announcements over the PA system! Made 2 today... got a slight error, addressed the speaker as 'Doctor' when he's not one yet... whahah
In case you guys haven known, i am a junkie and now, i am 'upgrading' to be a junkie of a higher level! Reason being, the tidbits sold at our vending machines are heavily subsidized.. cheezels at 10cents, peanuts at 10cents, lays potato chips at 30cents, chilled canned drinks at 50cents, famous amos cookies at 80cents, m&m's at 80cents and many other snacks lah... cheap cheap... but only the pantry at our level has the privilege of the vending machines so staff from other levels always come down and purchase, run out so fast that the vendor comes top up the machine twice weekly!~
Going hungry as i'm typing... shall end off here, long entry today...
