I need a new job. Had appraisal meeting with my boss earlier and i think we are losing patience with one another. I have no idea how long more i can bear with it.
She mentioned one issue which i find really ridiculous - my friendship with the 2 ladies. We are too closed up within ourselves and always appear as a gang of 3. We project ourselves as being 'exclusive, divas or the princesses' and do not allow others to come into our circle. She said even the big boss mentioned this to her. Would a DD be concerned about this?
How dumb can this get? I think this has become a personal rather than work issue. We have never meant to be the 'elite gang' or whatever and definitely no intention to project ourselves as being exclusive.
I don't see anything wrong with us being close colleagues, or even considered as friends. We are all females (no improper r/s or whatever going on), of similar age group and we joined the company around the same period. It is little wonder that we can get along pretty well. Most importantly, we are not ostracising anyone and in my opinion, this issue is not affecting work or posing any problems in the office! Though we are tightly bonded, we still mingle and mix with other colleagues, so what is the problem here?!
Someone actually told my boss that my clique is against her, and that whenever we are talking, and she happens to pass by, we will pause in our conversations. I mean, that is kind of normal.. sometimes its because we are blocking the way cos we tend to gather at the little space around my desk, and usually you won't want to share things with every single person in the office. That person is probably over-sensitive to think that we are gossiping about her. Or probably because she can't fish any information from us so she complaint to my boss that we are against her. My boss is not even her boss and why is she complaining to her in the first place?!
This person has, on several occasions, advised me that colleagues will always be colleagues. One can never find true friends in the workplace, probably only after you leave the company then can befriend your ex-colleagues. Is this a simple case of sour grapes? Seeing that my clique is on such good terms and she is jealous?
Whatever it is, I am sick of this and i find it childish. One rumour monger says something silly and manages to make several people believe her and her perception has become a "fact".
Yes, the 3 of us are EXCLUSIVE. Stay away!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
